Many years ago, there were more than 2,000 Indian Mounds in Ohio
Agriculture and development have destroyed many - there are around 70 remaining
Some Indian Mounds are effigy mounds, the most well known of which is the Serpent
Indian Mounds can also be ceremonial or burial mounds
The Miamisburg Mound, overlooking the Great Miami River, has 116 concrete steps to the top!
The Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks were recognized as a World Heritage Site in September 2023
