About the Cleveland Kurentovanje Winter Festival
The Cleveland Kurentovanje Winter Festival is a Slovenian-American festival that celebrates the end of winter and the beginning of spring. Their mythical, feathery, and horned carnival figures wear huge bells around their waists to chase away winter.
In its 12th year, the festival welcomes 2,000-7,000 people annually to this fun and energetic event that engages local, national, and global audiences by paying homage to Slovenian culture.
The festivities kick off with the Kurent Jump 2024, in which the mythical Kurenti awaken. It takes place on February 3rd at 5:30 p.m.
On Saturday, February 10, the day begins with the 6th annual Kurent Dash 5K, which starts at the Slovenian National Home. The main festival and parade will follow.
You can participate in the parade, too! March in the parade with your group of friends or your organization. Nominate this year’s prince and princess.
There will be four stages with music and entertainment. The Chardon Polka Band will be playing on the outdoor stage.
The Children’s Village will be a fantastic place for your little ones to get in on the fun! Located in the Slovenian National Home’s downstairs hall, children’s programming and zones will be geared toward toddlers to elementary-aged kids. The zones will include imaginative play and engagement-based learning, a block zone, craft areas, activities, and face painting, where kids can have masks painted on their faces in the Slovenian Marti Gras Festival theme.
ATMs and concessions will be available throughout the venue. First aid will be located in the parking lot at the University Hospital EMS truck.
ADA parking is available. Outside festival grounds and main ballroom floor are wheelchair accessible.
