Activities and Facilities at Eastwood MetroPark
There are lots of things to do at Eastwood MetroPark. Boating and fishing are popular activities.
Boating
On Eastwood Lake, power boats, water skiers, and fishing boats are permitted on the water on the even days of the month. On the odd days, fishing boats at idle speed, sailboats, and personal watercraft are allowed.
Rowers, canoers, kayakers, and other non-motor boats may use the lake every day.
Fishing
Eastwood Lake has 12-14 inch fingerling saugeye and a good population of large bluegill. You can choose to fish from shore or boat.
Blue Lake is lined with trees, so fishing by boat is the best option. You will find a good supply of bass.
Eastwood Lagoon has a variety of fish, from bluegill, crappie, and large and small-mouth bass to rock bass, carp, and catfish.
Night fishing at Eastwood Lake and Blue Lake runs from April 1 through October 31. They will be open 24/7 for fishing only.
Note: A valid Ohio fishing license is necessary to fish at Eastwood Lake. You don’t need a license to fish at Blue Lake or in the lagoon.
Hiking
The main trail is the unpaved Buckeye Trail, which is 2.7 miles. The Buckeye Trail and the North Country Trail follow the Mad River through the park.
The Eastwood Prairie Meadows Loop Trail is a gentle, three-mile hike.
Cycling
Ride the Mad River Trail to see beavers, waterfowl, as well as bald eagles! The two miles of paved terrain is fairly flat and smooth, great for families and beginners.
Camping
Eastwood A is a trailside camping location. The space allows up to two small backpacking tents.
The maximum stay is two nights. Fires are not permitted. A permit is required for an overnight stay at the campsite. A trailside camping permit can be obtained by calling 937-275-7275.
Paddling
Paddling in the lagoon with young children is great because the water is calm and it has an easy access point. It’s perfect for beginners too!
Reservable Shelters
There are four reservable shelters. The Mad River shelter has ADA parking. Both the Mad River shelter and the Pioneer shelter have cornhole sets available. You can reserve one online or by calling 937-275-7275.
