The Cabin is the mid-sized property of the three Meadow Rise rentals, accommodating 5 – 8 guests.

The Inside

The living room has a big screen TV with a selection of films on DVD and some streaming apps at no extra charge.

The kitchen is fully equipped with all the essentials, and everything is labeled to make finding things a lot easier!

There is a game room with oversized game boards, a game table, foosball, Pacman arcade, and a play area for little ones.

There are three bedrooms; the master bedroom has a king bed with attached bathroom. The two guest bedrooms each have a queen-sized bed and share a bathroom.

In the game room is a full-sized futon and a bean bag that converts into a full-size bed for the children.

The Outside

There are two decks with lots of seating with a grill and a dining table. Relax by the fire pit, or take a dip in the hot tub. There are also hammocks.

About Idyll Reserve

Sustainability is at the heart of the Idyll Reserve ethos. There are two electric car charging stations on the property. The cabins use Birch mattresses, which are made from natural, non-toxic materials. The bedding used at Idyll Reserve is organic.

The furniture inside the Idyll Reserve cabins is FSC-certified furniture from places like West Elm. You will see upcycled or vintage pieces throughout the property. There are organic or locally sourced products at Idyll Reserve, such as coffee, tea, and other items.

Whether you are interested in sustainability or not, Idyll Reserve shows you how to easily incorporate it into your life. The way sustainability is intertwined with the entire property is amazing. They make sustainability sexy and luxurious!

What is Included with the Cabins?

All five cabins have the same facilities and amenities.

A fully stocked kitchen: we are talking about every single item you need…utensils, dishes, wine glasses, champagne flutes, coffee mugs, coffee maker (2 kinds), an espresso machine, pots, pans, stovetop, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, and more!

Each cabin at Idyll Reserve has an outdoor area with a fireplace, a fire pit, or a fire table. They provide the firewood and fire starters!

There is also an eco-friendly hot tub at each cabin.  I spent time in this every single day!

If you have young children, you will be happy to hear that there is a high chair and a pack-n-play with bedding in each cabin. 

There is WiFi, TV with Netflix, HBO Max, and Disney Plus. A great sound system is connected to Spotify.

The Green Getaway is a tiny house rental just six miles from Old Man’s Cave.

Inn at Cedar Falls

The Inn and Spa at Cedar Falls is in Logan, the heart of Hocking Hills. Guests can choose to stay in one of six cabins that accommodate from two to six guests, one of five cottages that all sleep two people, there are 20 lodges that accommodate from two to 28 guests.

Upon entering the Treasure Island Suite at precisely 5 PM, guests are immediately immersed in a world of adventure. The room comes alive with sensors activating lights, sounds, and various interactive elements. The suite is meticulously designed with a pirate theme, featuring hidden tunnels, secret stairs, and slides. Guests can expect to find a variety of themed rooms, including a temporary tattoo area, a laser gun challenge, a secret room with massage chairs, and a dress-up room with pirate attire for both men and women.

Amenities

The Treasure Island Suite offers a range of amenities to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay. A mini fridge and microwave are provided, stocked with complimentary snacks such as microwave popcorn, peanuts, and snack bars, as well as bottled water and apple juice.

Guests can also enjoy the luxury of a jetted tub that transforms into a steam shower, adding a touch of relaxation after a night of adventure. Other unique amenities include a body painting room, a massage table room with red light therapy and massage guns, and a game showroom.

Location

Located in Hillsboro, Ohio, the Treasure Island Suite is conveniently situated near a variety of dining options. While the town may not offer many choices for those with specific dietary restrictions, there are several restaurants within walking distance or a short drive away. Guests are encouraged to enjoy a meal at one of the local eateries before embarking on their adventure, as the suite’s challenges can extend late into the night. Guests can also start the adventure and pause for dinner after 2 clues have been solved.

Personal Comments

Having had the opportunity to experience the Treasure Island Suite firsthand, I can confidently say it is a unique adventure. The suite’s design and interactive elements exceeded my expectations. The variety of rooms and activities kept us engaged for hours. The highlight is the teamwork required to solve the riddles and uncover the suite’s many secrets. My favorite part was the jetted tub and steam shower, which provided a perfect way to unwind after a night of exploration.

I got a lot of questions on social, “no”, the suite is not particularly kinky. Focusing instead on fun, puzzle-solving, and the thrill of discovery. The entire experience took us around four hours to complete, making it an ideal single-night stay. Although you can book additional nights to fully immerse yourself in the adventure.

The Treasure Island Suite at Romantic Adventure Getaways offers a unique blend of romance and adventure. Whether you’re an escape room enthusiast or simply looking for an extraordinary experience with your partner, this suite is a must-visit. My experience was sponsored, but all opinions expressed are genuinely my own. I look forward to returning and exploring more of the themed suites in the future.

If you are looking for modern amenities but love rustic charm, Hocking Hills Lodge is the perfect place for you! It is Ohio’s newest state park lodge and has on-site activities and dining for your pleasure and convenience.

There is an indoor pool and hot tub, an outdoor pool and all-season hot tub, and a fitness center that is open 24 hours, accessible with your room key. The fitness center is designed to inspire you, with high-quality equipment and fantastic views. Ping pong and billiards are available for your entertainment.

The lodge has 81 non-smoking guest rooms and most have a view of the state park or the outdoor pool. Many of the rooms can adjoin the next room, making a cozier and more convenient stay for bigger groups.

There are many choices of rooms, such as the Standard Lodge, which is outfitted with either a king-size bed or two queens. You can add a patio or balcony for extra space. For Family Lodging, you can get a two-room king suite with balcony, or opt for a king or queen with bunk beds. If you choose the king, you can add a patio.

Accessible rooms are also available, from a king-size bed with balcony, patio, or both to a two-room suite with a balcony. Pets are not allowed at the Lodge, but some of the on-site cabins are pet-friendly.

I had the opportunity to revisit a cherished memory, Cabin 2, where I first stayed back in 2008. This visit not only rekindled fond memories but also allowed me to appreciate the evolution of this rustic family getaway. I am happy to share this clean, comfortable, and, best of all, affordable stay in Hocking Hills. 

A Rustic Charm Amidst Nature

Nestled in the serene woods of Hocking Hills, Cabin 2 at Old Man’s Haven is a comfortable rustic retreat. It’s designed with a keen focus on family vacations, offering privacy and an immersive experience in nature. There are four cabins on site. There are two 2-bedroom cabins and two studio cabins. 

Cabin 2 is a 2-bedroom cabin (the second bedroom is an open loft). The cabin’s fisherman-themed décor resonates with the picturesque pond nearby, inviting guests to indulge in some leisurely fishing.

Cozy Interiors with a Touch of Wilderness

The cabin’s interior is a blend of coziness and the wild outdoors. The hardwood floors and wood-burning fireplace bring warmth and charm, creating a homely atmosphere. The spacious loft adds to the cabin-in-the-woods experience, making it an ideal spot for some quiet reading or a fun family game night. The loft is the second sleeping space.

One of my favorite features, which I fell in love with during my first visit, is the wood-burning fireplace. It’s not just the warmth it provides, but the unique wood storage access door that adds to the rustic experience, making it easy to keep the fire going on chilly nights.

Modern Amenities in a Rustic Setting

Despite its rustic appeal, Cabin 2 doesn’t shy away from modern comforts. It’s equipped with amenities including Wi-Fi, satellite TV (Hello Netflix!), a DVD and CD player, and, much to my delight, a hot tub on the covered porch. The fully equipped kitchen and the outdoor charcoal grill make meal preparations a breeze, whether you’re craving a hearty breakfast or a BBQ under the stars.

Sleeping Under the Stars, Comfortably

Accommodating up to four people, the cabin offers a full bed and a queen bed, ensuring a comfortable night’s sleep after a day of exploring the Hocking Hills area. The central heat and air-conditioning are a blessing, providing comfort regardless of the season.

Outdoor Bliss

The cabin’s exterior is just as inviting, with a picnic table and fire ring that call for evenings of storytelling and marshmallow roasting. The fishing pond adds a tranquil touch, perfect for those who enjoy a quiet fishing session.

The Heart of Hocking Hills

Its location in Hocking Hills is a significant plus, providing easy access to hiking trails, waterfalls, and the natural beauty the area is famous for. Whether you’re an outdoor enthusiast or just looking for a peaceful retreat, Cabin 2 serves as an ideal base. I came down to photograph the ice formations and snow and this was a great location to come back and warm up in between photo shoots. 

A Journey Back in Time

Returning to Cabin 2 after so many years was a nostalgic journey for me. It’s heartwarming to see how the cabin has maintained its charm and character while adapting to modern comforts. The surrounding peace and beauty remain unchanged, making it a timeless getaway.

About Shawnee State Park Lodge

Shawnee State Park Lodge celebrated its grand reopening in 2023 with newly renovated rooms and a renovated lobby.

The lodge has 50 guest rooms, each having a private balcony. Guest rooms have new bathroom fixtures, carpeting, furniture, and window treatments. The lobby was also renovated with new furniture.

Accommodation Options

You have several choices of lodge rooms to decide between, from a standard double bed, a standard family with bunk beds, a standard king, or a four-post king, all with the choice of a wooded view. Choose an add-on to make your stay extra special!

The lodge also has 25 cabins that each contain two bedrooms, a full kitchen, a fire ring, and a charcoal grill. Relax in the living room next to the gas log fireplace or outside on the screened porch. A cabin can comfortably sleep up to six people, and some cabins are pet-friendly.

Dining

Look out over a gorgeous view of the “Little Smokies” while enjoying delectable cuisine at the Smokehouse Restaurant. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served daily. Reservations are required for parties of 6 or more.

Tecumseh Lounge is a great place to relax and unwind. Have a “drink of the week” and a slice of their famous pizza. Open daily in the evening, but hours vary.

Recreation

A largeindoor pool that overlooks the lodge grounds is open daily, 7 am to 11 pm. Their outdoor pool and small children’s pool are open seasonally, noon to 8 pm. Afterward, you may want to relax beside a fire ring, available with the purchase of firewood from the gift shop.

The fitness center is open from 7 am to 11 pm. There are also tennis courts, shuffleboard, basketball hoops, and volleyball to keep you entertained. Classic arcade games are located in the lobby.
