Mad River Mountain is the largest ski and snowboard resort in Ohio. It is located 45 minutes outside of Columbus in Zanesfield.
Mad River Mountain is a snowy playground for winter-loving people! With over 144 acres of skiable terrain, nine lifts, and 16 trails, there is plenty of room for beginners, intermediates, and advanced riders to enjoy the outdoors.
Snowtubing is one of the top attractions at Mad River Mountain. Their Bubly Tubing Park is Ohio’s largest tube park, with over 1,000-foot-long lanes. Kids and adults alike will enjoy this activity. It takes no skill or experience, and it’s a whole lot of fun!
They provide snowtubes and two enormous conveyor belts that take you to the top of the tubing lanes. You must be at least 42” inches tall to ride; only one rider is allowed per tube.
Ski and snowboarding lessons are available at their Ski & Ride School. Learn from world-class instructors in group, small group, or 1:1 settings.
Night skiing and riding are available throughout the season, beginning at 3 p.m.
Rent your equipment ahead of time online, and you will save both time and money. While you’re there, enjoy two dining options: Mad River Cafe and The Loft.

I stopped by during the fall months before Mad River had opened for the season. I stayed at an Airbnb at the top of the mountain, where you can actually ski right from the front door. I wanted to share some pictures of the mountain without snow.
