Portsmouth Named “Hallmark Town” – The citizens of Portsmouth have good reason to be proud. They revitalized their southern Ohio town, by working together to bring attention to the positive aspects of their community. They caught the attention of The Hallmark Channel.
During a visit to Portsmouth, The Hallmark Channel recognized the town’s exceptional qualities. They named Portsmouth “The Hallmark Channel’s 2019 Hometown Christmas Town.”
If you are wondering where you can find the Christmas spirit in this town, look no further than Market Square. Designed to bring the community together, The Friends of Portsmouth have been putting on Winterfest throughout the month of December since 2018, and it is already the town’s most beloved festival.
During the day, fun winter festivities include ice skating on real ice, and even horse-drawn carriage rides that take you through the city streets.
There is even a vendor village. Warm yourself up with a tasty hot chocolate. You can go holiday shopping and get pictures with Santa. Pop your letters to Santa in the special mailbox that delivers straight to the jolly man himself!
When the sun goes down, the square becomes a magical place as millions of lights sparkle against the night sky.
This humble little town has about 20,000 residents and is growing, but they continue to hold onto that small-town charm that makes them so special.
2019 was a big year for Portsmouth. Not only did they receive the sought-after title from The Hallmark Channel, but the town also broke the world record for the most people wrapping presents simultaneously. That’s a lot of Christmas spirit!
