Visit Indian Run Falls
Indian Run Falls is a hidden gem located in Dublin, Ohio. The site covered 3.5 acres of land. It is located in the heart of Old Dublin between the new library and the post office. You can access it from either behind the new library or the post office. The trail runs between the two places.
What makes Indian Run Falls so special is the pristine waterfalls and streams. The area used to be home to the Wyandot Tribe. The city of D
Dublin provided access to the area by adding in trails, observation decks, a shelter house and a walking bridge.
Sadly, some people have walked deeper into the water area, down to the waterfall and jumped from it. This is not safe and actually illegal. In addition to getting severely injured you also face a misdemeanor charge along with countless fines and court costs if you are found guilty of jumping.
The waterfall is an estimated 12-15 feet plunge down and the crest is estimated at 20 feet wide. The water flow is moderate, but changes often with rainfall. There are smaller cascades up stream that are equally as beautiful.
The trail at Indian Run Falls is considered a moderately trafficked out and back trail. It is roughly 0.9 miles in length. The trail is great for all skill levels, including children. The trail is not really stroller friendly and not wheelchair friendly. The trail is best used from April to November.
Indian Run Falls - Insider Tips
We suggest entering the trail at the location close to the Dublin Library. This provides a “longer” yet reasonably nice hike through the beautiful forest. It will bring you to the foot bridge, where you can cross the stream. From that side you can walk down the steps and get close to the water. Please follow all posted rules at this site. You can continue walking the path to find the observation decks to view the falls.
This is the perfect hidden gem nature spot right in the middle of town. It is the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the day. Take a quick walk at lunch to relax and enjoy nature.
The waterfall itself can be hard to get views of. The best is from the observation deck, however if the landscape is grown up, it can be hard to see.
