About Dublin Ohio
Dublin is a suburb of Columbus, and it falls within the jurisdictions of Franklin, Delaware, and Union counties.
The original village was settled by John Sells who began to survey lots in 1810. His business partner was an Irish man called John Shields who was given the honor of naming the village. Due to ‘the hills and dales surrounding this beautiful valley’, he named it after his birthplace, Dublin, Ireland.
In 1970, Dublin still only had 680 residents. The construction of Interstate 270 created a population boom. It was officially declared a city in 1987, with a population of 5,000. Today the population is around 49,500!
