The Devil's Bathtub is a very popular location as it is well known for being a great hiking area. It is a natural phenomenon that is a series of pools that are connected by a narrow stream. The Devil's Bathtub is not as scary as it sounds. It is known for water that is clear and pure and it is a greenish color. The pools are of different depths, but the deepest one is just 2 meters.

This is unique for a waterfall due to how it is formed, thanks to the other nearby waterfalls. The waterfalls have been falling for thousands of years and in that time, the water has created a bowl in the sandstone. The Devil's Bathtub is also a level waterfall and the water not only moves quickly, but it rotates as it moves.

It is also very important to point out that the Devil's Bathtub can be very dangerous. It is also not advised to go into it when there has been excessive rainfall. Jumping into the Devil's Bathtub is not advised due to the shallow depths in different areas of it.

In the past, some people have been hurt when they have gone into the Devil's Bathtub and required hospital treatment. If you take the advice to treat this area with respect, then you can have a really lovely time visiting.

The History Of Devil's Bathtub Hocking Hills

As mentioned above, it has taken a great many years for the Devil's Bathtub to be formed. We will have to go back to over 300 million years ago when Ohio was covered by the sea. As time went on, the sea started to recede, and rivers and lakes were created.

One of the streams that created the Devil's Bathtub is called Devil's Fork. Devil's Bathtub was gradually created, and the water continues through the Devil's Bathtub down to the lower falls.
