A washboard once featured in almost every house; of course, that was before electricity and automatic washers were invented. The washboard was invented around the mid-1830s and made life so much easier than the laborious process of hand washing!

The Columbus Washboard Company has been producing washboards since 1895 and still uses some of the vintage tools and machinery to create its products.

Washboards these days can still be used for scrubbing clothes. They can be purely decorative or used as a musical instrument, mainly for bluegrass music.

Guided tours of the factory are available three times per day. There is an admission fee.

There is a wide range of sizes and designs of washboards available to purchase, as well as handmade soaps and salves, vintage laundry items, Fostoria glassware, and more.

Grandma Faye’s is your one-stop shop for picnic and camping supplies to souvenirs, alcohol, and other guilty pleasures.

They have a deli, stocked full of sub sandwiches and lunch meats. There is pizza, too. They also sell other foods, like cheese, eggs, bacon, butter, and milk. You will also find hot dogs, fruits, and vegetables in the coolers. Stovetop stuffing, canned veggies, and soups line the shelves.

Essentials like paper plates, paper towels, and ziplocs are in stock, as well as firewood, propane, and other camping supplies. A nice selection of beer, wine, and other alcoholic beverages is available, from White Claw and Mike’s Hard Lemonade to Corona, Samuel Adams, and IPAs.

If you are in the mood for something sweet, try some ice cream or a shake. They have several enticing flavors, from Moose Tracks to Kentucky Praline Pecan and more. Delicious flavors of fudge include Red Velvet, Maple Walnut, and Birthday Cake.

Check out Grandma Faye’s gift shop to make your trip extra memorable. They have candles, windchimes, baskets, leather goods, and t-shirts, just to name a few.

Groovy Plants Ranch provides plants in all categories, both expected favorites and hard-to-find or unusual plants, as well as plants in all price ranges.

Jared Hughes has worked in horticulture since 2007, when he was 19 years old. He worked and studied as a full-time student when he developed a love for succulents for their low maintenance and easy propagation.

In 2015, Jared and Liz married, and in 2016, they were both living and working on the Groovy Plants Ranch.

Their passion is for unusual plants for the region, and they have created their own hybrid begonia called ‘Canary Wings.’

In their own words, Groovy Plants Ranch is “more than just a store, it is an imaginative plant experience.”
