Chances are if you are looking for things to do in Logan Ohio, you are planning a trip to Hocking Hills. Logan is located in the heart of Hocking Hills. It is actually the county seat of Hocking County. Logan is just over 45 miles from Columbus Ohio.

It is a popular destination any time of the year. If you are looking for places to go on spring break with family, planning your summer vacation, or maybe just looking to book a winter getaway, Logan Ohio is a pretty amazing place.

Logan is in the heart of Hocking Hills, and one of my favorite places to visit. With the beautiful scenery on the trails of Hocking Hills, the warmth of the Logan community makes it a great place to visit before or after a hike, and to experience some family fun or a little shopping for unique items.

Hocking Hills Hiking Trails

The seven major hiking areas of Hocking Hills are:

  • Ash Cave
  • Cedar Falls
  • Old Man’s Cave
  • Whispering Cave
  • Conkle’s Hollow
  • Cantwell Cliffs
  • Rock House

Old Man’s Cave

Old Man’s Cave is one of the 7 major hiking trail parks in Hocking Hills. The most popular trail at Old Man’s Cave is a one-way trail loop that is approximately 1.5 miles long.

Ash Cave

Ash Cave is located in the southernmost part of Hocking Hills. The path back to the massive horseshoe cave is paved. When walking this path, we have seen wheelchairs and motorized carts navigating the paved path well. Beautiful hemlocks and beech trees surround the area and provide an amazing backdrop.

Cedar Falls

Cedar Falls is a 0.5-mile long hike that is considered moderate and strenuous with steps. It is a one-way trail with a waterfall, unique rock formations, and bridges. It takes about 40 minutes to walk this trail. Leashed pets are welcome, but there is no wading or swimming allowed in the waterfall or creek areas. 

There are other places to Hike in this area, but they fall just outside of Logan. Places such as Rock House, Conkles Hollow, and Cantwell Cliffs!

John Glenn Astronomy Park

The astronomy park offers a place for visitors to experience the evening sky via a large telescope and of course with their eyes. The park can be visited during the day and night.

Fun fact, the astronomy park was inspired by the vanishing night sky. With light pollution, the night sky was being consumed. But Hocking Hills was one of the few areas where the night sky was still clear and very visible. When looking for educational and nighttime things to do in Logan Ohio, the John Glenn Astronomy Park fits that bill.

Nevillebillie Adventure Park

Nevillebillie Adventure Park is a huge recreational facility packed with adventure for the entire family. This adventure park is fun for all ages!

You can find ATV rental, 3 paintball fields, a huge family ropes course, a 20-foot vertigo tunnel, and more. This adventure park has trails onsite (many of them) to drive the ATVs! This is fun for the entire family, work event, or bachelor/bachelorette parties!

(NevilleBillie Adventure Park) This was a great place for some outdoor fun. Just be sure to bring extra clothes; you WILL get muddy, but it’s good for your skin, and it’s a great experience you won’t get anywhere else.

Hocking Hills Canoe Livery

The Hocking Hills Canoe Livery was started in 1996 and is a family-owned and operated business, providing views of this scenic area via kayak, canoe, tube, or raft.

If you are looking for adventure, the Hocking Hills Canoe Livery is perfect for you. This livery offers many different types of float and activity options. There are even cabin rentals and tent camping options on site! You are going to love this Hocking Hills experience!

Hocking Hills Adventures

Hocking Hills Adventures was one of the first of its kind to open in 1976. Hocking Hills Adventures has been owned and operated by the same owners for the last 40 years. The Hocking Hills Adventures facility is over 200 acres and is within minutes of the most popular state parks in Ohio.

So if you are looking for more things to do in Logan Ohio after you finish at Hocking Hills Adventures, you will be very close to even more adventures! The Hocking Hills Adventures offers cabin rentals and tent camping as well as special group rates. There is also a fun center. This is a one-stop shop when it comes to things to do in Logan Ohio. The fun center has go-karts, mini golf, a game room, a splash pad, a jump pad, and more!

Indoor Activities in Logan

There are plenty of indoor activities in and around Logan for both kids and adults.

Hocking Hills Escape Games

The escape room here is booked with 6 people at a time. The Hocking Hills escape room usually takes about an hour, unless you are exceptionally good at it! The game is designed as a challenge therefore, not everybody wins.

Columbus Washboard Co

The Columbus Washboard Co actually started in Grandview, just outside of Columbus. It moved to Logan in 1999. The Columbus Washboard Co is the only washboard manufacturer still operating in the United States.  The washboard factory continues to assemble the products by hand with teams of skilled craftsmen.

If you are looking for an educational thing to do in Logan Ohio, you might want to consider a factory tour at the Columbus Washboard Company. You can see the inner workings of an old brick factory with vintage equipment. The factory tours are guided and take about 35 minutes, they are appropriate for adults and children. 

Pencil Sharpener Museum

When you stop at the Hocking Hills Welcome Center in search of things to do in Logan Ohio, you should also check out the Pencil Sharpener Museum. Just the name alone piques interest! More than 20 years ago, a local Reverend started to collect pencil sharpeners.

The collection has grown to over 3,400 pencil sharpeners. The collection has gained national recognition and has been featured in magazines and is said to be the largest collection of pencil sharpeners in the United States. So if you love being a part of history, make a stop here to check out this huge collection of pencil sharpeners. 

Hocking Historical and Genealogical Society and Museum

The Hocking Historical and Genealogical Society and Museum’s main focus is to collect, preserve, and diffuse information connected with Hocking County. The museum offers some unique items to view such as a railway telegraph, printing presses, an 1899 steam-powered automobile, and more!

Hocking Hills Candle Works

At the Hocking Hills Candle Works you can buy pre-made soy candles with amazing scents, but you can also make your own scent. For this, you will need to schedule a candle-making workshop or plan a personalized event. 

Brewery 33

Brewery 33 offers a large selection of beer and soda brews! They are not a restaurant but offer light snacks and also food delivery from nearby restaurants. This is a pet-friendly location, just keep your pup on a leash. They will even provide snacks and a water bowl for your dog!

Hocking Hills Winery

Hocking Hills Winery is a must-visit destination. The Hocking Hills Winery offers a bountiful selection of wine flights, wine by the glass or bottle, wine slushies, beer, soft drinks, and weekly specials! Hocking Hills Winery does serve some food.

They offer a nice range of charcuterie boards, with meat boards and even a vegetarian charcuterie option! Meats, cheeses, fresh vegetables, dips, crackers, and more are available. Then even have a gluten-free cracker option. 

Hocking Hills Moonshine

Hocking Hills Moonshine is a moonshine distillery located in the heart of Hocking Hills. Sample, tour, and enjoy the friendly atmosphere.
