Light in the Forest is a 1-mile walking trail at the Cincinnati Nature Center at Rowe Woods in Milford through most of December.

The trail takes visitors past ponds, woodlands, and fields, with light displays and interactive activities.

Featuring children’s craft and interactive activities, live music, a bonfire, a beautifully decorated historic home, food trucks, and holiday shopping.

If available, tickets will be sold at the gatehouse, but this event is expected to sell out, so purchasing tickets online is advised. Tickets are on sale from early November.

The walks start at specified times – 5.30 pm, 6.30 pm, and 7.30 pm. The trail is open Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for four weeks, and December 22nd and 23rd also.

Jack O’Lantern Glow is at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden and is open throughout October, closed on Mondays.

Jack O’Lantern Glow is an immersive walkthrough experience with more than 6,000 hand-carved pumpkins and displays along a half-mile trail in the zoo.

Be transported into a mesmerizing wonderland, including special effects.

Reptile House and Night Hunters are also open until 9 pm.

Doors open at 6.30 pm and the event ends at 9.45 pm. This is not included with zoo membership. Tickets are available online.

CincItalia – Cincinnati Italian Festival is held in Harvest Home Park in Cheviot in late May. Three days of family fun and Italian Traditions.

This festival celebrates all things Italian, including live Italian music and dancing.

Games include Bars & Bells, Big Six, and Split the Pot. There are cooking demonstrations, kids’ games and rides, and more.

Around 20 local Italian restaurants are represented.

Friday is Adults Night (Ages 21+) from 6 pm to Midnight.

Saturday opens at 3 pm and closes at 11 pm. Sunday opens at 1 pm and closes at 9 pm.

The Real Taco Fest gives taco lovers the opportunity to indulge in the best tacos in town! Held in Cincinnati in May.

Summerfair Cincinnati is a three-day fine arts fair taking place at Coney Island in Cincinnati.

One of the nation’s oldest, continuous arts fairs is back for another year! Summerfair Cincinnati is a non-profit organization supporting visual and performing arts in the Greater Cincinnati area. 

Over 300 juried, fine artists and craftspeople from across the country will exhibit and sell their work. Categories include the following: ceramics, glass, jewelry, metal/sculpture, leather/fiber, painting, drawing/printmaking, photography, wood, and 2D/3D mixed media. 

Regional music performers will be there on Saturday and Sunday. You will hear a mix of jazz, Americana, folk, bluegrass, blues, and more. 

A gourmet arts area will serve unique food and drinks. 

Handicap parking will be available. There is a limited number of wheelchairs available for use. Only registered service dogs are permitted. 

Funds raised from this event help support awards, scholarships, and exhibitions for high school and college artists, working professional artists, and community-based arts organizations.

They have shareable plates, too, like wings and loaded fries. There is a kid-friendly menu as well.

Choose from various shake flavors, including cookies & cream, orange cream, cotton candy, and root beer, just to name a few. If you would rather have a float, they have those, too!

About Ohio

About Bockfest

Bockfest promotes the rich heritage of OTR and the people who live and work there by non-profits coming together to make Bockfest a reality each year. The three locations are the Moerlein Lager House at the Banks, Rhinegeist, and Northern Row Brewery & Distillery.

The Bockfest Sausage Queen is a gender-neutral position awarded to one lucky individual. The winner will, most importantly, receive honor and prestige. They will help lead the parade by carrying the symbolic tray of Bockwurst.

Watch the funkiest and most entertaining parade in Cincinnati. It starts at Arnold’s, the oldest saloon in town. The parade is led by a goat pulling a keg, the sausage queen, and the official parade marshal.

Custom trophies are awarded for Overall Best of Bock, Best Costume, Best Music, Best Brewery or Home-Brew, Best Goat Representation, and more.

Bockfest officially begins after the parade. Sing along to the “Bock Beer” song. Hear live music all day long, and play a game of Bockfest Drag Bingo.

Cheer on your favorite breweries as they compete for the coveted trophy through games of strength, speed, and fun at the Brewer’s Cup. Guests will get a chance to play too!

Historic Brewing Tours and Beer Histories with local historians are on the schedule.

NTR Canoe Livery

NTR is located in Bolivar, on the Tuscarawas River. They offer canoeing, kayaking, tubing, camping, fishing, and more. There are three trips available: a 6-mile trip taking around two hours, an 8.5-mile trip taking around three hours, and a 14.5-mile trip taking around six hours.

Trip two can be taken as a two-day trip, as can trip three, where you will canoe 8.5 miles and stay at the campground on day one, then canoe back to the livery on day two.

Mohican Adventures

Mohican Adventures offers two trips, and you can choose from canoes, kayaks, tubes, and rafts. Birch Bark Canoe Livery in Urbana is on the Mad River which is the ideal place to do some wonderful canoeing. Most of the river in this area is only 3 feet deep, so it is great for guests who may be a bit nervous or have never taken part in this activity before.

The water is incredibly clear, so guests can also see the bottom and will also be able to see any wildlife that is in the river. The current of the river is very gentle, but it has enough power behind it to carry you along. However, guests can paddle against it if they wish to.

Morgan’s Outdoor Adventures

Canoeing trips start in May of each year after the snow of winter has melted away and the river is a bit more stable. Morgan’s Canoe Livery at Fort Ancient was the first livery on the Little Miami River. This is the only livery that is based in the Fort Ancient Gorge of the Little Miami River.

Canoeing in this area is a real treat. There are amazing hillsides that are packed with lush vegetation and the peace and tranquility is one of the major draws of this area. Springtime is a great time to visit as all the flowers and trees are coming into bloom after the harshness of winter.

This area was also home to the Hopewell Indian Tribe and this tribe was known for building mounds. This is an ideal area to do some camping as well, so guests can come for the day, or have a much longer stay.
